We Travel Together

We travel one-day trips in the days off forthe targeted groups. Sunday for our working children of category (A) and Friday for category (B), which aresiblings of category (A)or those who combine work with schooling. Most of the trips combine entertainment and education. In summer time, trips usually include sea visits and in winter we go to places where we can learn new things. We visit places like Mohamed Ali citadel, Susan Mubarak museum for Children, Salah El Din citadel, and El Azhar Park.

In the holly month of Ramadan, we attend cultural nights, after breaking the fast, in places like El Seheimy House, El Harawy House, and Prince Tazz Palace. Once we made a drawing event in El Azhar Park, and once we participated in the scientific activities for environment preservation in the occasion of the International Day of Environment. We also participated in the celebration of the World Day Against Child Labor in coordination with other associations and the International Labor Organization in Egypt.

As for the camps, they are usually done over the course of three to four full days.Camps for working children are usually done in Eid Al Fitr or Eid Al Adha every year. Other school children's camps are done in the summer.

During the camps, we learn how to live with each other as a group, and how to take responsibility of ourselves, whether we are boys or girls; so we get training on scouting life, discipline, kitchen work, helping in cooking, washing dishes, and cleaning our rooms as well as the whole place of the camp.

We get divided into fixed groups; each one has a child leader, a child assistant, and a leader from the association's work team. Each group lives in one room throughout the duration of the camp, and has certain roles and responsibilities. Besides, each groups composes a slogan and a scouting shout that should express the topic/cause of the camp and the group’s opinion about it. Each camp should have objectives that we work together on achieving.

During Rafah camp, we learned what do the borders with Israel mean. We learned about the habits of the Bedouins and their industries during our camp in El What (the Oases). We knew the importance and the resources of the Red Sea and its coral reefs in the camp of Nweibaa. We saw the greatness of Mount Mouses and its beauty, and felt the value of a place like the Monastery of Saint Catherine thatall the three monotheistic religions respect.

After each camp, and while going back home,we feel like we don’t want to leave each other. When we gather again, each one feels like he/she is going to see someone dear to his/her heart. After each camp, and when we go back to our association, we make sure to listen to each child’s opinion. We then make activities that express our new experiences and our feelings about every thing that we saw and experienced.
