Issuing of “My Camps” Guide

Thisguide is a book that aims to develop the social skills of the children in difficult circumstances through camp’s activities and group’s dynamic games.

Camps are an opportunity for coexistence, participation, friendship, and guidance, resulting from friendliness and love.

Games of the camps are many and various. Their sources are available, but what we offer depends primarily on their functional classification, according to the guiding principals of the group dynamics, along with developing them and adding other elements that increase their attractiveness, like water games for example.

This book is divided into four chapters. First chapter clarifies the activities and games that integrate the child with the peers’ groups. It refers to the most important standards of groups’ building during the camp, then it separates the types of competitive games into games that combine all the participating groups and other games that are performed in relay from a group to another until the last one. Both types of games rely on a collective and structural concept of competition that differs from the unpleasant individualistic competition.

The second chapter clarifies the activities and games that lead to understanding biases within the groups, and how to re-structures them if they are harmful to the children or if they lead to the bullying of some against others, in addition to enhancing the rotation of leadership and subordination roles among the playing children.

The third chapter details the camps’ models. Some are simultaneously recreational and educational, and some aim to enlighten and create awareness. In the second model, we choose the issue of the child rights and how to negotiate in order to serve them. We present games that are based on other games that were presented by some international bodies, such as the Passport (previously used to explain the issue of forced asylum), in addition to other newly invented games.

Finally, the fourth chapter directs the camps organizing specialists to the most important required official papers, and the most important set ups and preparations needed.

Assessment cards are also available to assess children’s behavior and amusement parties. This motivates the groups of children to be active and to achieve the highest results, andbe proud of being part of the group that gained the first rank.

This book is beneficial for the associations and NGOs that work with the marginalized or orphaned children. It is also useful for the social workers.
